Beach Cottage

Location:

Crescent Beach, BC

This quaint 1920’s cottage located in a Beach community where my clients had lived for years and loved. They needed help to reimagine a space that had so many wonderful features but needed updating. Being able to use family antiques, including two love seats upholstered in their original Sanderson floral fabric from her mother, was important to my client.

Like many small, older homes, it lacked adequate storage and features that would reflect its vintage, beach character. kitchen and bathroom updates urgently needed! To fix these problems, large built in wardrobes in the entry gave them a lot of usable storage. A baby grand piano also takes centre stage in the spacious entry.

The kitchen was reconfigured to include a beautiful large range and hidden laundry components. An antique oak dining table was refinished with a soft grey wash. Vintage sourced dining chairs were also refinished and reupholstered as well as the dining dish cupboard and living room coffee table.

The bathroom was dark and outdated. Adding several small windows high on the wall washes the room with soft light from hallway skylights. Vintage inspired tiles and sink are in keeping with the age of the home.

The entire living space come together with a neutral palette of Benjamin Moore paints: Pale Oak and Revere Pewter. Seaglass Blue, a favourite colour, is featured throughout.
