A Worldly Interior

An eclectic collection of art, family heirlooms and travel momentos was the inspiration for this Kitchen and Dining room renovation. Robin loves to cook, bake and entertain using china, crystal and silverware inherited from her parents and grandparents. However the kitchen did not have adequate storage, workspace or convenient access to the dining room.
To solve these problems, we created a galley kitchen by closing off one of the entrances to the living room and made a new connection to a Butlers pantry and the dining room. The butlers pantry was visually opened up to the living room and the kitchen by installing three vintage windows above the bar counter, creating a connection between all three spaces. I always love to work with a client who isn’t afraid of colour! The kitchen cabinets and dining room walls are painted a rich teal colour, Cascades from Sherwin Williams.
The dining table was refinished and chairs reupholstered in teal velvet and an ethnic pattern with hints of gold. Brass and gold tones are repeated in the curtains, light fixtures and cabinet hardware.
