A Room with a View
Location:
West Vancouver, BC
Almost every room in this in this West Vancouver townhouse has stunning views of the city and distant islands. The building dates back to the 1980’s and previous owners had chosen to decorate in more of a Whistler style, with slate floors and maple shaker cabinets. My clients wanted a lighter, brighter space that lets the views take centre stage.
In order to achieve this, we opted for a cleaner more contemporary plan. A white kitchen with white granite counters and the use of chrome and other reflective metals, glass and mirror. The grand piano wasn’t moving so we made the fireplace more of a focal point for the seating area by refacing it in white stone. Michelle loves red and it is repeated throughout the space, starting with the reupholstered red chairs in the breakfast nook that is also the place for a custom made mirrored cabinet that serves as a coffee bar, charging station and file storage for household records. The North facing Family room is the place where grandchildren can watch TV and sleepover on a custom sectional/sofa bed. The wall unit was designed to serve as the place for the media centre and storage.
